Mozart & the Mind brings the world’s leading neuroscientists and therapists to San Diego to provoke discussion around music’s role on the brain.
More than $10,000 in scholarships was granted to low-income families to attend Mozart & the Mind events in 2019.
Attendance at the Mozart & the Mind Symposium 2019 provided continuing education credit for music therapists.
Mozart & the Mind brought attention to more than 65 disabled visual artists from around North America who had their paintings featured.
More than 100 autistic musicians have been featured as part of Mozart & the Mind.
Mainly Mozart’s Annual Sensory-Friendly Concert has served more than 1,000 autistic people and their families from San Diego and Tijuana with sensory-friendly performance by the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra. Youth from PASITOS, Tijuana’s largest autism agency, attend the event and are hosted to lunch at no charge. (The Annual Sensory-Friendly Event will in 2020 feature a keynote discussion centered around autism and perfect pitch. Autistic musicians will perform with neuro-typical youth and the performance will be preceded by interactive music education programming and music-engagement activities designed for people on the autism spectrum.)
“To say that you made my dreams come true would be a huge understatement… Your work has brought our community so much energy and light.”
